BUILDING PERMITS:

Permits for building inside the city limits of Comer are obtained by first submitting plans for the new building or remodel to City Hall.

New structures require a printed plat, and a to-scale drawing of the structure, showing dimensions and setbacks, along with a detailed description of building materials such as siding and roofing. Any existing structures should also be shown, with their dimensions.

These plans must then be approved by the city, at which time a permit authorization letter will be issued to Madison County Building and Zoning. Permits may then be pulled from the county, who is solely responsible for construction inspections. Property markers like pins or flags should be readily visible on the site for inspection of setbacks by the city.

Questions may be directed to City Hall at 706-783-4552

Rezoning, conditional use, or variance applications are $45.00
